rather than React – take action. Don’t wait for others to lead.
We must lead and take care of others. Today’s technology platforms
give us the means to be proactive. Connect with new networkers to explore
opportunities of mutual interest.
As an example, I started the “Land Development” group on LinkedIn
and now have over 8,500 members from around the world. Where else will you have
a forum in which to connect with like-minded professionals?
I have stopped watching the news. It seems that the emphasis is on
the tragic/dark side, on political correctness, and on the upheaval around the
world. Our values are under attack everyday! We are looking for facts and not
opinions. Do you really think the editorial board of the NY Times influences
us? If you read the newspaper, you will be left behind.
This goal goes hand in hand with relentless preparation. Reacting
will be too late!
