Federal Legislation will define affordable housing as: `affordable housing' means housing, the cost of which does not exceed 30 percent of the income of a family.
The cost would mean your monthly principal and interest payments would not exceed 30% of your monthly income. Of course, the federal government could extend the definition of “cost” to include energy, transportation and other costs!
